What is measured
Google Analytics records site activity such as pages viewed, scrolls, downloads, outbound-link clicks, site searches, referring pages and broad browser, device and location information. CouncilCheck uses this to understand which public-interest information and tools are useful.
Google’s stream-level email redaction is enabled. Search and form values are not deliberately sent as analytics fields, and visitors should not enter personal information into site searches.
What is disabled
No advertising purpose
Advertising storage, advertising user data, ad personalisation and Google Signals remain denied even when analytics is allowed. CouncilCheck’s optional Google account data-sharing settings are also switched off.
The site does not make access to any page conditional on accepting analytics.
Storage & retention
A short data window
Your choice is saved in this browser’s local storage. If analytics is allowed, Google Analytics may set first-party cookies beginning with _ga. Turning analytics off removes those accessible cookies and reloads the page without the Google tag.
The property’s user and event retention are both set to two months. New activity does not reset user-data retention.
